NAFED has been undertaking production and distribution of certified seeds. NAFED has been nominated as one of the Central Seed Production Agency by Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India.

During the year 2018-19, NAFED has undertaken seed business 11170.74 MTs Valuing Rs.7490.685 Lakh was undertaken by Nafed through its empanelled seed producers under centrally sponsored scheme, NFSM- Pulses (1780.67 MTs valuing Rs. 202.754 Lakh) and NFSM - Oilseeds (1820.64 MTs Valuing Rs.1440.723 Lakh) on behalf of DA & FW. Further, general supplies to state Governmetns/Institutions were effected for total quantity of 75694.31 Qtls valuing Rs.4029.208 Lakh.
